Vince Choppy and his wife Anne founded V. M. Choppy & Sons in their Voorheesville garage in 1978 when Vince began welding together wood-burning stoves for his friends and neighbors. Two years and 200 stoves later, the business expanded to include aftermarket auto body panels and sheet-metal animal feeders.
