Coronavirus Announcements: Hope UMC, Blue Earth: 8 THINGS TO KNOW: 1) In support of efforts to keep our community healthy, we are cancelling Worship Services for Sundays, March 22 & 29. All Wednesday afterschool and evening activities are also cancelled for these next two weeks. (I will be developing some 'independent study" work for our Confirmation students.) It is recommended that all other church groups and committees not meet, but that is up to you. 2) Church office hours will remain the same: Tuesday - Thursday, 8:30 am - 11:30 am. 3) Pastor Russ and Pastor Jan are available to minister, but our primary tool will be the phone. If you or someone you know has a need, please let us know. 4) After two weeks, we will re-evaluate. It looks like this is going to be a long haul folks, so don't be surprised if we need to extend this. Our leadership (elected, health, congregational) is urging us to err on the side of caution. We agree with this approach. 5) We will be minimizing our time as a "gathered church". My friends, this is a time to emphasize being a "scattered church". Be the church - Christ's Body - for one another, your neighbor, and the vulnerable. Give a call, run an errand, share some groceries, send a card, and of course, pray. Focus on using this time to share the love of Christ in practical 'ways. Remember The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. (And remember, as we take our eyes off ourselves, our own burdens "magically" lessen.) 6) I will be working with KBEW to offer a live broadcast on Sunday mornings at 9 am. You get to have church in your pajamas. I get to lead a "service" from the studio wearing jeans. And unlike face-to-face church, when you don't laught at my jokes, my feelings won't be hurt. Kind of a win-win. 7) If your personal finances aren't taking a major hit, please remember to contribute to your church (whatever church that might be). PO Box 125. We also have an easy online giving option through our website. 8) Take care of yourself: Mind, body and soul.
