The purpose of the Planning & Zoning Department is to be a customer service department in the following six ways: (1) To assist the Board of Supervisors with land use planning, (2) To be both proactive and reactive to proper zoning of a land use, (3) Create and enforce ordinances as public guidelines to ensure land use is equitable for all, (4) Issue building permits ensuring that proper construction and safety standards are adhered to, (5) Issue mobile home installation permits to ensure state standards are followed, and (6) Address citizen complaints.
