Fort Campbell Spouse Employment Center

Description

Spouse Employment Center :: FORT CAMPBELL

Service and sacrifice are common denominators among all who wear the uniform of their country’s military. Likewise, their spouses factor into that equation as well. Military spouses also serve, just in different ways. They keep the home-fires burning while their service member is deployed and fill the roles of both parents as provider, caretaker, disciplinarian and nurturer, among many other parental responsibilities. Basically, spouses often put their lives on hold and that’s one of their major sacrifices, as they follow their Soldier and support his or her career. But, what if the spouse is also career oriented or just wants to work outside the home? Fort Campbell operates a Spouse Employment Center connecting military spouses to careers. The center’s purpose is to provide resources, training and various types of support in the search for employment or in furthering an established career path. Partner agencies housed within the employment center include the Campbell Strong Workforce Partnership, USO Pathfinders and Army Community Service-Employment Readiness. Specific services provided by these agencies include: • Assessing specific employment needs of clients • Providing up to $5,000 in customized employment resource services • Helping with the requirements and costs of a license-transfer from another state • Temporarily covering costs of things like child care, business attire and uniforms • Helping identify and work around barriers to employment • Incentivizing employers with work-based training packages to help pay part of initial training costs • Advising on developing a career plan, job search and creating a resume • Providing interview prep training and holding employment readiness workshops • Assisting spouses interested in federal employment through USAJobs Obstacles to finding a job or career growth can be anything from the unexpected expense of a license transfer, to needing temporary financial assistance with the cost of child care, gas, clothing or uniforms. The center exists to help eliminate those obstacles. The Spouse Employment Center staff and counselors assess each client based on what jobs or training they want and what skills they already have. Based upon those factors, counselors assist the individual spouse in their action plan and job search. While the Fort Campbell Spouse Employment Center does not provide actual employment for spouses, the staff and counselors can support and guide them in their job search through resources, training, and partnership funding. Whether a young spouse who has never worked before or believes there are obstacles to employment, or a spouse who is a licensed professional seeking employment after a Permanent Change of Station move, the Fort Campbell Spouse Employment Center can assist in a job search, at no cost, and in many cases can provide funding to assist removing obstacles to employability. Interested spouses can call 270-412-1720 for more information, visit online at https://home.army.mil/campbell and type spouse employment in the home page search box or ask questions through the Contact Us section. One can also stop by the center located at 5668 Wickham Avenue.
